Product Comparison - Micellar Water Vs Foam
From the beauty room to the bathroom, micellar water is one of the leading facial cleansers. Yet Foam or Water? That is the question!
Water cleansers are specially formulated to act as a convenient and more effective cleansing tool as opposed to water on its own. Facial water cleansers are the better option when it comes to the everyday facial regime and pre facial treatment tool and come in a few forms… water, gel and foam. Yet each is slightly different as to what it does for skin, and when you incorporate its use into your beauty treatment.
Micellar Foam Cleansers
This is one of the most common types of facial cleansers. If you get a good one, they will form a dual-action result and support the skin with hydrating properties. As most are known to dry skin out.
On the positive side, foam cleansers are amazing when it comes to the removal of makeup and impurities that sit deep within the skin’s textured structure. As the foaming action and the bubbles created, actually help to lift the dirt and are on the alkaline side of the pH scale. This helps neutralize acids and keep skin inflammation at bay. This is ideal for some skin conditions such as eczema and acne. Alkaline-based skincare can help to stimulate the natural pH balance in skin and promote better natural defences.
For example, our resident Micellar Foaming Cleanser, Audrey Belle Micellar Cleansing Foam 2-in-1, is a combination of all the wants in a Micellar cleansing foam. It features Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice to help leave skin balance and rejuvenated, and glycerine to help boost softer skin for more supple and dewy results. Not only does it remove makeup more effectively, it leaves a cleansed surface ready for treatments to work more effectively on your client.
Micellar Cleansing Waters
Micellar water is also a very popular part of the beauty regime and a handy tool in the salon. Micellar water is highly regarded as an effective and gentle deep cleaning facial tool that draws impurities from the skin without drying it out.
The difference here, is the micellar water is usually formulated with oil particles commonly referred to as ‘micelles’, which helps dirt and grime stick for better removal from the skin’s surface. It is also known to be gentler as a tool, and ideal for sensitive skin as it tends to help keep the skin’s natural moisture barrier intact and balanced. Yet if you are looking for a deep and thorough clean, and something for more oily skin, micellar water on its own won’t perform as well.
Since micellar water is known as a soft facial cleansing tool, it is not generally strong enough to remove heavy makeup or 24-hour stay on makeup. This is where you may need to follow up with a specialised makeup remover before performing a facial treatment.
It is a great tool gentle enough for everyday use and those who don’t generally wear a lot of makeup. Certainly, a tool to keep handy for general cleaning of the skin.
